Chad Le Clos is South Africa’s best swimmer, he is the African record, Commonwealth record and South African record holder in the short course and long course 200-meter butterfly and the short course 100-meter butterfly.

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he tied the record set by Ian Thorpe for the most number of medals won at a single Commonwealth Games with seven medals.

Chad holds the Guinness world record for most gold medals won in the FINA Swimming Worl Cup (Male). He holds 143 gold medals from 2009 to 2018.
Getting started at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, held in July and August in Birmingham, England, Le Clos achieved a spot in the semi-finals of the 50-metre butterfly based on his overall eighth rank and time of 23.80 seconds in the preliminaries of the event on day one of competition.
