In a new video posted on Friday 29th July 2022, Will Smith reaches out to Chris Rock saying “My behavior was unacceptable, and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.” Will Smith was earlier in the news after he deliberately slapped Chris Rock onstage four months ago at the Oscars over a joke about his wife’s shaved head.

Will Smith shared the apology video on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook on Friday. In his own words:

“I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk, and when he is he will reach out.”

“So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable, and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk,” Will continued.

Will Smith also explained why he didn’t apologize to Chris Rock in his Oscars acceptance speech for Best Actor. He stated, “I was fogged out by that point. It’s all fuzzy.” The actor went on to apologize to Rock’s mom regarding his behaviour.

“I saw an interview that his mother did. That’s one of the things about that moment I didn’t realize, I wasn’t thinking, but how many people got hurt in that moment. “So I want to apologize to Chris’s mother; I want to apologize to Chris’s family, specifically Tony Rock. We had a great relationship. Tony Rock was my man. This is probably irreparable” Will said.
