Mayim Bialik is a practising neuroscientist. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience in 2000. She continued her pursuit in science by earning her Doctor of Philosophy degree in neuroscience from UCLA in 2007.

Mayim Bialik has starred in the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory (2010-2019) as the neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler. Her role on the show got her nominated four times in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
