Gaia Hypothesis was invented by an English independent scientist, author, and environmentalist called James Lovelock.

James Lovelock was a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

James Lovelock worked for the likes of the National Institute for Medical Research in London, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and other institutions. James Lovelock lectured at the University of Reading, the Baylor University College of Medicine, the University of Oxford, and others.

James Lovelock was awarded the Tswett Medal in 1975, the Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences in 1990, and the Wollaston Medal in 2006.

James Lovelock died on July 26, 2022, in his residence in Dorset, England, at the age of 103 years.
