More human remains discovered in Lake Mead.

The National Park Service announced Monday, July 25 2022, that it is investigating another witness report of human remains discovered at Lake Mead.

The body was discovered by an unidentified person while visiting a section of Lake Mead National Recreation Area called Swim Beach, which is located in the reservoir’s boulder basin area about 30 miles east of Las Vegas.

Authorities said they couldn’t provide any additional information because the formal investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

The discovery on Monday was the latest in a disturbing series of similar reports. Human remains were discovered near Lake Mead’s new shores on multiple occasions this year, as a severe and ongoing drought caused the water level to fall to its lowest point in nearly a century.

The NPS reported that human skeletal remains were discovered about 25 miles north at a different section of Lake Mead called Callville Bay, just days after boaters spotted a barrel carrying a body at Hemenway Harbor, just three miles away from Swim Beach, in May 2022.

Local police later stated that the body discovered at Hemenway Harbor was that of a shooting victim, whose shoes indicated that they were likely killed in the mid-1970s or earlier.
