Hill Street Blues is a 146-episode American serial police procedural television series that aired in prime time on NBC from January 15, 1981, to May 12, 1987.

The show follows the lives of the officers at a single police station on Hill Street in an unnamed large city. The “blues” are police officers dressed in blue uniforms.

Hill Street Blues was ranked 14th on TV Guide’s list of the 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time in 2002, and #1 on TV Guide’s list of the 60 Greatest Dramas of All Time in 2013.
