Isiah Kiner-Falefa is an American professional baseball player. He currently plies his trade as a shortstop for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Isiah’s mum Kimberly Kiner sacrificed a lot for him to excel.
In fact, when Isiah got to play in New York for the first time at 12 years old for a summer tournament in upstate Cooperstown Dreams Park, his mother, Kimberly, stayed back home in Hawaii because it would have been a financial burden on her family.
Isiah fondly recounted her mum’s sacrifice;

“She would sacrifice not coming on the trips … to make sure me and my dad were able to experience it. If we were all there, I don’t think we would have been able to afford it.”
At the time, Kimberly was a flight attendant.
Isiah’s dad Fili Falefa owns a landscaping business.
Isiah attended Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii and was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fourth round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft.
He made his professional debut with the Arizona League Rangers and spent all of 2013 there, batting .322 with 11 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 41 games.
