Did Anthony Rizzo have leukemia?

Anthony Vincent Rizzo is a Major League Baseball first baseman who plays for the New York Yankees (MLB).

In April 2008, Rizzo was diagnosed with limited-state classical Hodgkin lymphoma. He underwent chemotherapy for six months. At the same time, his grandmother was battling breast cancer.

Rizzo’s doctor told him he was in remission on September 2, 2008, though he still had six weeks of treatment and some follow-up testing. Rizzo’s doctor told him on November 18 that he “could live a normal life.”

Due to his experience with cancer, the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation was established in 2012. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation that supports cancer research and families affected by the disease.

Rizzo’s family, close friends, and management team run the foundation entirely. Rizzo is in charge of supervision and leadership.  The foundation made a $3.5 million donation to the Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago in August 2017, bringing its total donations to the hospital to more than $4 million.

He is a regular finalist for the Heart and Hustle award due to his philanthropic endeavours and is widely regarded as one of the most respected players in MLB.
