ESPYS 2022: Who Won Athlete Of The Year 2022?

Baseball pitcher Shohei Ohtani and American swimmer Katie Ledecky, won the Athlete of the Year at the ESPY Awards for Best Men’s Athlete and Best Women’s Athlete, respectively,

Ohtani currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels and had played in his second All-Star game of recent.

He recorded a batting of .257/.372/.592 with 46 home runs and 100 RBIs while recording a 3.18 ERA and 156 strikeouts in 130 1/3 innings pitched, last season.

In his current season, which is his 8th, he boasts of a record of 89 games, 56 RBIs, pitched 87 innings with a 2.38 ERA and 123 strikeouts.

For Ledecky, at the Tokyo Olympics, she went home with two gold and two silver medals.

She also won the 1500-meter freestyle, and so far is the only female Olympic swimmer with the most individual gold medals.

At this year’s World Aquatics Championships, she had clinched four more gold medals.
