Shohei Ohtani is a Japanese Major League Baseball pitcher, designated hitter, and outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels (MLB). He previously played for the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) Pacific League’s Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.

Over $110,000 was paid for an MLB All-Star Game jersey autographed by Los Angeles Angels two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani. According to the MLB Auction listings, Ohtani’s jersey is worth $111,050.
Shohei Ohtani was the Fighters’ first-round pick in 2012. From 2013 to 2017, he was a pitcher and outfielder for the Fighters in NPB.

Ohtani recorded the fastest pitch by a Japanese pitcher in NPB history, clocking in at 165 kilometres per hour (102.5 mph).
Shohei was the first player in MLB history to be an All-Star as both a pitcher and a hitter, as he started both roles in the 2021 All-Star Game, as the AL’s manager-selected starting pitcher and fan-selected starting designated hitter.
He was named American League (AL) Rookie of the Year in 2018 and AL Most Valuable Player in 2021.
