Juan Soto, a two-time All-Star and two-time All-MLB first-team performer turned down a 15-year, $440 million contract from the Nationals, the third time in recent months.

It’s the second big deal from the Nationals that Soto has turned down this year, following a 13-year, $350 million deal before the offseason lockout.
Soto declined the offer for a variety of reasons, including the contract’s structure and uncertainty about the franchise’s future.
Soto and his agent, Scott Boras, were said to consider the backloaded offer to be essentially the same as including deferred money, and they thought the annual salary was too low.

According to Soto’s agent, Scott Boras “Soto is on track to become a free agent entering his Age 26 season, and possibly could seek a deal of more than $500 million.”
Soto will reportedly be placed on the trade block after rejecting the Nationals’ most recent extension offer.
According to Reports, The Yankees would have to trade Anthony Volpe the top prospect in New York’s system to get Juan Soto.
