He is a trained electromechanical engineer, a pilot, sailor, consultant, and property developer.
He partly owns a Zambian emerald mine near Lake Tanganyika.
Errol resides in Pretoria, South Africa, with the family of his second wife.

Errol Musk, the father of Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, had an unplanned child with his step-daughter.
Errol, 76, justified his actions by saying that “the only reason for being on Earth is to reproduce.”
Errol’s stepdaughter Jana Bezuidenhout, 35, had a daughter named Elliot Rush, in 2018.

The duo had been co-habiting for a while before the birth of baby Rush.
Errol has been married to Jana’s mother, Heide, for almost twenty years and fathers two biological children with her – Rose and Tosca.
“The only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce,” he Errol had said during a recent interview.
“If I could have another child I would. I can’t see any reason not to.”
Speaking about the reactions he got from his own biological daughters, Errol said:
“They still don’t like it. They still feel a bit creepy about it, because she’s their sister. Their half-sister,” he said.
Errol is regarded as an unpleasant man in the family and his son Elon once said he would never allow his children meet Errol.
