Kari McDonough, formerly Hillstrom, is the wife of Denis McDonough, the 11th Secretary of Veterans Affairs of the United States.

According to their website, Kari is the president and co-founder of Vet’s Community Connections, an organisation that “assists veterans, military, and their families in successfully integrating into their community by expanding their local networks and involving all parts of the community.”

Kari previously worked as a consultant at the Robert Bosch Stiftung, a leading private institution known for its support of natural and social sciences.
It’s unclear how long the McDonough’s have been married or how they met. The couple lives in Maryland with their three children, Addie, Liam, and Teddy.
After Denis McDonough left Obama’s administration, she published an article on the Huffington Post titled “What Our Kids Have Learned About Public Service” in 2017.
