Chapman made MLB history on September 24, 2010. Chapman, who was then a rookie relief pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds, threw a fastball that PITCH/fx measured at 105.1 mph. MLB later increased that to 105.8 mph.

Chapman matched his previous record of 105.1 mph with a ball to Baltimore’s J. J. Hardy on July 19, 2016.

Chapman was named to four consecutive National League All-Star teams from 2012 to 2015. He won the MLB Delivery Man of the Month Award as the best relief pitcher in July 2012.

On July 11, 2014, Chapman broke Bruce Sutter’s record for the most consecutive relief appearances with a strikeout, striking out at least one batter in 40 consecutive appearances.

Chapman finished the 2021 season with 30 saves and a 3.36 ERA. He recorded 97 strikeouts and 38 walks in 56+1⁄3 innings.
