Edwin Orlando Daz Laboy is a Major League Baseball pitcher from Puerto Rico. He made his major league debut with the Seattle Mariners in June 2016, and he played for them from 2016 to 2018.

DAZ broke the Mariners’ record for consecutive strikeouts and was named the team’s closer just two months after making his MLB debut.

In 2018, he led the American League with 57 saves, was an All-Star and was named AL Reliever of the Year.

The Mariners traded Daz, Robinson Canó, and $20 million to the New York Mets on December 3, 2018

Diaz won a silver medal as a relief pitcher, specifically as a closer, for the Puerto Rican national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
