From 2007 to 2011, Hubbard played golf for San Jose State University. He was named first-team all-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in 2009 and qualified for the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship in both 2009 and 2011

As a senior in 2011, he won the WAC championship tournament. He earned a B.S. in business management from San Jose State in December 2011.

Hubbard won his first PGA Tour Canada event, The Wildfire Invitational, in September 2013. He finished third on the Order of Merit, earning one of five Web.com Tour cards for the 2014 season.

Hubbard finished 184th in the standings in 2017 and lost his card, forcing him to return to the Web.com Tour.
