Magothy River Boating Accident: Laura Slattery, 63, Dies

Laura Slattery, 63, of Pasadena, died after the boat she was on was hit in the Annapolis area. The other boat’s driver took off.

The hit-and-run boater who caused the collision on the Magothy River around 10 p.m. on July 4 is still being sought by police.

According to a spokesperson for the Department of Natural Resources Police, an unknown male operating a white centre console vessel struck a wellcraft boat while entering the Magothy River’s 6-knot channel.

The driver of the vessel fled after striking the boat and was last seen entering Deep Creek, Cape St. Clair.

There was a man and a woman on the boat when the accident occurred.  Laura Slattery, the woman, was eventually pronounced dead. She died of her injuries.

Police are still looking for the striking vessel. Anyone with information on the boat or the people operating it is asked to call Natural Resources Police at 410-260-8888.
