The Seattle Mariners are a professional baseball team based in Seattle, Washington. They are a member of the American League (AL) West division in Major League Baseball (MLB).

In 1977, the team joined the American League as an expansion team, playing its home games at the Kingdome. T-Mobile Park, located in Seattle’s SoDo neighbourhood, has been the Mariners’ home ballpark since July 1999.

The Mariners won 116 games in 2001, breaking the American League record for most wins in a single season and tying the 1906 Chicago Cubs for the Major League record.

Who is the majority owner of the Seattle Mariners?

The Seattle Mariners are majority-owned by First Avenue Entertainment LLLP. Following its purchase of the Seattle Mariners in 1992, Nintendo of America established First Avenue Entertainment LLLP to control its ownership shares in the team.

In 2016, the group’s share ownership was restructured, with 17 minority owners, led and represented by John Stanton, purchasing 90% of Nintendo shares.
