Gwynn had a career batting average of.338 and never hit below.309 in a full season. He was a 15-time All-Star, earning seven Silver Slugger Awards and five Gold Glove Awards for his abilities on both offence and defence.
Gwynn was a rare player in his era who spent his entire career with a single team, and he appeared in San Diego’s only two World Series appearances. In 2007, his first year of eligibility, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
