Slovakian superstar, Peter Sagan, is self-quarantined in Utah, recovering from COVID 19, ahead of Tour de France coming up in July.

The three-time world champion has been battling a series of health challenges over the past two seasons.

In 2021, he was stricken with COVID during the winter, after 5 consecutive wins.

Peter’s coach, Jens Van Beylen said the TotalEnergies cyclist was in what he termed as “long” COVID.

“We did a whole series of tests. We could not find a specific cause for his problems,” Van Beylen said.

“Peter felt tired, he had pain in his legs, after training and after the races. He had never felt that,” he said.

“We decided that Peter was still feeling the aftermath of a coronavirus infection in late December, early January. Call it a post-corona syndrome”, coach Van Beylen added.

His health has affected his performances so far in 2022 and his high-profile move to TotalEnergies.

Team officials are hoping that the low-pressure, high-altitude training camp in Utah will help Peter bounce back.
