Israel Adesanya won by a dominant decision over Jared Cannonier in the UFC 276 main event, marking his fifth successful title defense at 185 pounds on July 2 2022.

Adesanya outclassed Cannonier on the ground and negated any takedown attempts by ‘The Killa Gorilla.’

Both fighters started with leg kicks, and the champion used calculated teeps to keep Cannonier at bay. ‘The Killa Gorilla’ tried everything he could to put pressure on Adesanya, but the Kiwi’s strikes hit their mark more often than not.

In round two, Adesanya’s unintentional eye poke briefly halted the action but did not affect the fight’s momentum.

Adesanya easily won the championship rounds, outclassing his opponent in the stand-up game. While Cannonier was able to get into a clinch several times, he was unable to land any significant damage.

Adesanya made another statement with scores of 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45 in his favour.
