Konstantin Anisimov is the late father of tennis star Amanda Anisimova.

Konstantin was married to Olga Anisimova and aside Amanda, they had another child, Amanda’s elder sister Maria, who played college tennis for the University of Pennsylvania while attending Wharton’s undergraduate business school.

Konstantin and his wife Olga emigrated from Russia to the United States a few years before the birth of their second daughter Amanda was born so as to give their older daughter Maria better opportunities.

Konstantin and his wife worked in the finance and banking industries, and neither played competitive tennis while growing up.

Konstantin Anisimov, was just 52 when he died of a heart attack on Aug. 19, 2020, one week before the start of the year’s final Grand Slam tournament; and his death affected Amanda badly.

Konstantin, an imposing and brainy Russian immigrant with a baritone voice, was Amanda’s longtime coach, and though he and Amanda’s mother, Olga, separated and a new coaching team put in place, he remained in regular contact with his family.

Konstantin’s death at home in Aventura, Fla., in 2020, came while Amanda, his daughter and one of the game’s most promising talents was in New York preparing for the U.S. Open after her breakthrough run to the French Open semifinals earlier in the season.

Amanda withdrew from the US Open following her father’s death.
