According to the World Health Organization, over 73 million induced abortions occur worldwide each year, accounting for 61% of all unwanted pregnancies and 29% of all conceptions in general.

More than 1.2 million abortions were conducted worldwide in the first ten days of 2021, according to WHO.

The abortion rate in the United States is 20.8 abortions per 1,000 women.  The most recent year for which the CDC provided a national total for abortions was 2019.

According to the agency, there were 629,898 abortions in the United States that year, a little increase from 619,591 in 2018.
