Jared Bednar is a former player and professional ice hockey coach from Canada. He is the current head coach of the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche (NHL).

He previously coached the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League, when he led them to a Calder Cup title in 2015-16. In the 2008-09 season, he also led the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL to the Kelly Cup victory.
Bednar led the Avalanche to back-to-back playoff appearances in his third season as coach, becoming the first Avalanche coach to do so since Joel Quenneville in 2005-06.

The Avalanche defeated the Calgary Flames 4-1 in the Western Conference First Round but were defeated in seven games by the San Jose Sharks in the Second Round. Bednar signed a two-year contract extension on July 9, 2019.
Jared had long hair while playing for the South Carolina Stingrays halfway through the 1995-96 season, which set him apart from his teammates.
