It transports around 260,000 vehicles per day on its two decks as part of Interstate 80 and the direct route between San Francisco and Oakland. It boasts one of the longest stretches in the country.

The Bay Bridge opened on Thursday, November 12, 1936, six months before the Golden Gate Bridge. The Bay Bridge is four times as long and much more than twice as busy as the Golden Gate Bridge.

The rebuilt eastern part of the Bay Bridge is the world’s largest bridge according to Guinness World Records, as of 2014.

The Golden Gate Bridge spans the Golden Gate, a one-mile-wide (1.6-kilometre) strait linking San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

The bridge spans the strait between San Francisco, California, and Marin County, transporting both US Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the strait. It is also intended for pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
