Arsenal has declared a serious interest in Ajax defender, Lisandro Martinez and has had a £30 million bid for the player rejected.

The 24 years old is a left-footed centre-back by trade and has become a regular for the Dutch giants since joining from homeland side Defensa y Justicia for £6 million in 2019.

In addition to challenging Gabriel Magalhaes for a starting berth, Gunner believes the Argentina international also has the quantities to provide back-up to Kieran Tierney. At times, he’s also been deployed in midfield.
Martinez was selected for Fernando Batista’s U23 in September 2019, ahead of an exhibition encounter with Bolivia. He won four caps for the Argentina U20s at the 2017 South American Youth Football Championship in Ecuador.
