Who Did John Hinckley Stalk?

John Hinckley, had stalked Jodie Foster for a long time before the assassination attempt of former President Ronald Reagan.

Foster was a child actress who played the role of a 12 year old Iris, who was sexually trafficked in the movie, Taxi Driver.

In the movie, Iris caught the attention of Travis Bickle, who, failed to assassinate a presidential candidate. He kills Iris’s pimp and is celebrated.

After John Hinckley Jr, who was regarded as an extremist, watched Taxi Driver for the first time, he began to dress and behave like Travis Bickle, and became obsessed with Foster.

He followed her to Connecticut where she studied at Yale and Foster wasn’t even aware until she began to receive handwritten letters from the mystery stalker.

What Did John Hinckley Do?

Hinckley attempted to assassinate U.S. President Ronald Reagan in Washington, D.C. on March 30, 1981, just to impress Jodie Foster whom he was obsessed with.

The assassination attempt led to the mailing of three security agents and the then Press Secretary, James Brady, who became permanently disabled in the shooting.

Hickley had used a .22 long rifle bullet that hit the president’s left underarm, breaking his ribs.

Reagan’s lungs was also punctured and and he suffered severe internal bleeding.

The president was in coma at the George Washington University Hospital, in the ICU.

He had to undergo an exploratory surgery. After some months, he was discharged from the hospital.
