In December 1960, he joined the new kitchen sink drama Coronation Street as one of the original cast members, making his debut as Linda Cheveski’s Polish husband Ivan Cheveski in the second episode.
Walder remained a regular cast member for the next twelve months but was written out in December 1961 due to Anne Cunningham who played Linda being unable to renew her contract due to the Equity Actors’ Strike.
