Kim Kardashian made news with her 2022 Met Gala costume, but she also wore a second important outfit, as she revealed on Instagram.

The star wore Marilyn Monroe’s famed translucent gown. Monroe wore it when she performed “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962. Later that year, Monroe died from an overdose.
The outfit was created by French designer Jean Louis, who dyed the fabric in a nude colour to match the starlet’s skin tone and had it sewed over her bare body before she mounted the stage to serenade John F. Kennedy on his birthday in 1962.

Curators and historians slammed Kardashian’s and Ripley Entertainment’s choice to bring the outfit to the Gala.
The International Council of Museums (ICOM) joined others who criticized the reality television star. Saying that “Historic garments should not be worn by anybody, public or private figures,”.
Kim eventually changed into a replica because the original dress, which Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962, was far too valuable to be worn for a whole night.
