In return, Detroit traded guards Chucky Atkins, Lindsey Hunter and a first-round draft pick to Boston.

During his first season with the Pistons, Rasheed recorded 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in a 76–66 win in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

During his time as a player, he recorded the most fowls and ejections in a season.

Rasheed was first drafted by the Washington Wizards (then Washington Bullets) in the fourth round in the 1995 NBA draft, and was later traded to the Portland Trail Blazers after the season.

Aside from the Pistons, and the Portland Trail Blazers, Rasheed also played for the Atlanta Hawks (2004), Detroit Pistons (2004–2009), Boston Celtics (2009–2010), and the New York Knicks (2012–2013).

He played last with the New York Knicks before his retirement in 2013, which came as a result of a foot injury.

Rasheed began his career as a coach in 2013 with the Detroit Pistons.

In 2021, he was assigned as an assistant coach at Memphis on Penny Hardaway’s staff roster.

In 2022, he began coaching the Tigers together with coach Larry Brown, but in January 2022, Rasheed switched to coaching remotely.
