Jay Leach is not related to Brian Leach who pitched for North West Mississippi.

Jay Leach is the nephew of former NHL forward Stephen Leach.

Jay Leach joined the Seattle Kraken in 2021, to assist coach Dave Hakstol for the Kraken’s inaugural season.

He was born on September 2, 1979, in Syracuse, New York, U.S.

His playing career as a defenseman lasted between 2001 and 2013 and played for the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens, and San Jose Sharks.

Jay Leach Coaching Career

Leach is a former ice hockey player and had been captain of the Albany Devils.

In 2014, Leach assisted in coaching the Deutsche Eishockey Liga and led them to their sixth DEL Championship win.

Leach has also assisted Mike Sullivan in coaching the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

He became interim head coach following Sullivan’s promotion as the head coach at Pittsburgh.

Leach later joined the Providence Bruins also as an assistant coach in 2016 and was eventually promoted to head coach before the 2017–18 season.
