Where Did Jon Cooper Grow Up?

Jon Cooper was born in British Columbia but grew up in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.

His mother is American and his father, Canadian.

While in high school, Cooper played hockey at Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.

He went ahead to bag his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University.

Cooper serves as head coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League.

He recorded a back-to-back win at the Stanley Cup championships in 2020 and 2021.

Cooper is the longest serving coach in the history of the NHL.

In 2021, Cooper signed a three-year contract extension as a lightning coach for the 2024-25 season.

He also served as head coach for Canada at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Cooper has coached the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Green Bay Gamblers.

He has been head coach, Tampa Bay Lightning since 2013; and was head coach for the Green Bay Gamblers between 2008 and 2010.

Cooper’s coaching career began in 1999 when he coached Lansing Catholic High School

During his time with them, the school won its first hockey championship in 25 years.

The only time he served as an assistant coach was his time spent with the Capital Centre Pride of the North American Hockey League.
