The Utah Jazz announced on Sunday that head coach Quin Snyder is stepping down after eight years in charge. It was reported that Snyder had been thinking about his future with the organisation and had spoken with Utah’s front management about it.

Snyder stated in his statement that he felt Utah’s players needed a “fresh voice to continue to progress.” According to Wojnarowski, his interactions with the Jazz were “amicable,” and his connections with other members of the organisation remained solid.

“There are no philosophical differences or other reasons. I simply feel like it’s time to move on “Snyder stated. “I needed to dissociate after the season to ensure this was the right decision.”

Despite the early exit from the playoffs, Snyder’s departure is rather unexpected given that he had two years left on his deal.

According to reports, Jazz ownership and management spent several weeks attempting to persuade Snyder to continue as coach, even offering him a contract extension, but he just decided that his time had come to step down.
