Bo Diddley was noted for introducing a variety of new musical styles and inventions. He was one of the first musicians in the 1950s to include female musicians such as Lady Bo. He hired her full-time to play all of his stage shows, making her the first female lead guitarist hired by a big act in history. 29 June 2008

Bo Diddley was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Washington Area Music Association in 1986. The following year, he was inducted into Cleveland’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Diddley earned the Rhythm and Blues Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Los Angeles in 1996.

While his 1955 debut performance of “Bo Diddley” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame the following year as a recording of significant quality or historical value. He also won a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy Awards Ceremony in 1996.
