As he made the rendition, the Royal family sang along and waved their flags.

On the other hand, the audience of 22,000 people at the Buckingham Palace were not expecting that the legend would ditch all the iconic songs in his back catalogue and opt for “Sweet Caroline”.

“This isn’t a fun one to sing but the BBC made me sing it. Make it fun for me”, Rod Stewart explained why he chose the song.

Stewart had urged the crowd to join him in the song before he began.

The song “Sweet Caroline” has become a regular well known rendition by the Rangers FC in recent times.

The jubilee celebration recorded performances from the cast of Hamilton, Six, and The Lion King.

There were also opera renditions, raps, commentary and comedy, and a unique highlight that featured the Queen teaming up with Paddington Bear for a sketch.
