David McCormick is a politician and entrepreneur. He is a former hedge fund executive and Army veteran. From 2020 to 2022, McCormick was the CEO of Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest hedge funds.

By November 2021, McCormick had raised 8 billion yuan ($1.3 billion) for a private fund in China as the CEO of Bridgewater.
While considering a candidacy for the United States Senate in Pennsylvania in late 2021, McCormick began to separate himself from Bridgewater founder Ray Dalio’s defences of China’s human rights policy, loudly rebuking him during company calls.

On January 3, 2022, he stepped down as co-CEO of Bridgewater and was replaced by Mark Bertolini and Nir Bar Dea.
From 2007 to 2009, McCormick served as the United States’ top foreign economic diplomat as Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs.
He managed strategies in the areas of international finance, trade in financial services, investment, economic development, and international debt policy as the senior consultant to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on international economic matters.
