Sandberg is best known as the chief operating officer (COO) of Meta Platforms, a position from which she announced, on June 1, 2022, that she is stepping down in the fall. Sandberg is also the founder of LeanIn.Org.

Sandberg was made COO at Facebook in 2008, an appointment which elevated her to become the company’s second-highest ranking official.

In June 2012, Sandberg was elected to Facebook’s board of directors, becoming the first woman to serve on its board and as head of the company’s advertising business, she was credited for making the company profitable.

Prior to joining Facebook as its COO, Sandberg was vice president of global online sales and operations at Google and was involved in its philanthropic arm Google.org.

Before that, Sandberg served as chief of staff for United States Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence Summers.

What is Sandberg salary? According to salary.com, as COO at Meta Platforms, Inc., Sandberg made $24,754,004 in total compensation.

Of this total $918,077 was received as a salary, $946,767 was received as a bonus, $0 was received in stock options, $14,370,187 was awarded as stock and $8,518,973 came from other types of compensation.

Sandberg also had shares in Facebook and in April 2014, it was reported that she had sold over half of her shares in Facebook since the company went public.

At the time of Facebook’s IPO, she held approximately 41 million shares in the company; after several rounds of sales she is left with around 17.2 million shares, amounting to a stake of 0.5% in the company, worth about $1 billion.
