DeLorean Motor Company has published the first images of its Alpha 5 electric vehicle (EV), in an attempt at resurrecting the DeLorean name in an all-electric form.

The Alpha 5 comes with those iconic gull-wing doors and can reach 60mph in about 2.99 seconds (or 88mph in 4.35 seconds).
The Alpha 5 could come with a 100kWh battery, offering an estimated 300 miles of range and a top speed of 155mph.
DeLorean also indicates these specs will belong to the “base” performance model, but there isn’t any word on other possible performance tiers or pricing as of now.
DeLorean first teased its upcoming EV last month, promising a full reveal later this summer on August 18, 2022.

As a matter of fact, the EV won’t be built by the original DeLorean, but rather a Texas company that purchased the rights to the DeLorean name and spare parts.
The Alpha5 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro’s ItalDesign studio (which also designed the original DeLorean) but there’s no word if it uses stainless steel panels like the OG.
The Alpha5 is based on the “Medusa” concept that the original DeLorean company had been working on before it went bankrupt back in 1982.
