Susan Armstrong: Who Is Lester Piggott’s Wife?

Susan Armstrong is the wife of former English jockey, Lester Piggott. Susan and Lester tied the knots in 1960. Though they were later separated, they had two daughters, Maureen Piggott and Tracy.

They had their wedding ceremony at St. Mark’s church, North Audley Street, London.

Susan’s father, Sam Armstrong, and brother, Robert Armstrong, were trainers in jockey racing.

Her daughter Maureen, got married to a popular trainer William Haggas; while Tracy, ended up as a sports presenter on Irish television station RTÉ.

Her husband, Lester, had an only son, Jamie, out of wedlock.

During his hockey career, Lester recorded 4,493 career wins, and was recognized amongst the list of the greatest flat racing jockeys of all time.

In 2021, Lester became a British Champions Series Hall of Famer.

Now 96, the horse racing legend is reportedly ill and has been hospitalised in a clinic in Florida. The nature of his illness has not been disclosed.

This is not the first time the legend will be hospitalised. In 2017, he was rushed to the hospital due to heart-rending problems but eventually recovered.
