Colton Herta Accident

American open-wheel racing driver, Colton Herta, has just come out of a ghastly auto crash, which happened ahead of the NTT IndyCar Series.

Colton, who drives for Andretti Autosport, was driving his Indianapolis 500 car during practice, when the sports car crashed and the engine went up in flames.

Colton’s father, Bryan, had come to his rescue at that moment, urging him to stay calm and well strapped in until the emergency team could get him out completely.

Arrangements for a back up car for the racer is already underway.

“I think I was going a little too fast for that corner,” Colton said.

“Thankful for a lot of things. I guess the aeroscreen is part of that. More so the safety crew and I guess just the durability of the side pods on the side structure of the cars. That was a big hit from the side. Yeah, the safety crews were there very fast flipping me back over”, he added.

Colton is currently taking part in the NTT IndyCar Series competition for Andretti Autosport with Curb-Agajanian.

He had won an IndyCar Series race before now and the youngest person to ever win it till date.
