Ringo Madlingozi was married to Judith Maqanda, and together they had a son, Phila Madlingozi.

Their marriage didn’t last beyond 10 years before they divorced.
Judith was from Port Elizabeth. She recently died after a long battle with cancer. She was buried in Eastern Cape.
Ringo is now a father of six children, and feels grateful for the outcome of his life regardless.

He is a member of the South African National Assembly.

He formed the band, ‘Peto’, several years ago. The band went ahead to win the Shell Road to Fame contest in 1986.
Ringo is also the band leader of the group Gecko Moon, which he formed with Alan Cameron, a fellow Peto member.
Ringo has also done a number of collaborations with well known bands such as the UB40, and is credited for the recording of Xhosa lyrics of “Cover Up”.
Ringo has on several occasions won the Best Male Artist in Southern Africa at the South African Music Awards (SAMA), the Kora Awards, and the African continent Awards.
