Stephen Woolfenden: Who Is The Willow Director?

Stephen Woolfenden is a television director from the United Kingdom. He previously worked on the Harry Potter films as a second unit director.

When the previous directors left the production owing to schedule issues, Stephen Woolfenden, a producing director on the Willow series, stepped in to shoot the first two episodes.

He has directed several TV episodes, including the latest Doctor Who episode “Nightmare in Silver.” He was most recently the second unit director for The Legend of Tarzan.

Woolfenden is the son of English composer and conductor Guy Woolfenden.
Woolfenden is married to Chyna Thompson. They have been married since 1999. They have two children together.

Stephen worked as a 2nd Unit Director for Warner Bros. on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Part 3. Production resumed in August 2020 and lasted until February 2021.

Stephen went back to Outlander for Series 5 as the principal director, directing episodes 1, 2, 7, and 8 in Scotland. He then travelled to Dublin to direct the Fate: The Winx Saga conclusion for Netflix and Archery Pictures.

He directed the last block of The Spanish Princess for Amazon/Starz/New Pictures between August and December 2018.
