English drummer and songwriter, Alan White, best known for his iconic rock band ‘Yes’, passed away on May 26, 2022, following a brief illness.

White died at his home in Seattle. He had been battling health issues for a long time. White is aged 72.

White joined the Yes band in 1972 and ended up being the longest-serving member in the band.

White has featured on over 50 albums launched by various artists such as George Harrison, Ginger Baker’s Air Force, Terry Reid, Joe Cocker, and The Ventures.

When Did Alan White Start Drumming?

White began drumming at age 6 and at age 13, he joined his first band – The Beatmakers – in his local area. Together they performed songs by the Beatles, the Searchers, and Gerry and the Pacemakers.

The group went ahead to compete on various platforms and they won a number of contests at the time.

In 2017, White became a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.

He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Gigi, and two children, Jesse and Cassi.
