Sandy Hook Survivors: Who survived the Sandy Hook?

On December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, United States, 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Twenty of the victims were youngsters aged six to seven, and six were adult members of the staff.

Lanza shot and killed his mother at their Newtown home earlier that day, before heading to the school. Lanza committed suicide by shooting himself in the head as first responders arrived at the school.

Kaitlin Roig, a 29-year-old first-grade teacher, and her fourteen kids survived by hiding in a toilet and barricading the door.

Yvonne Cech and Maryann Jacob, librarians at the school, also hid eighteen children in a section of the library that was utilised for lockdown exercises.

During the rampage, music teacher Maryrose Kristopik, 50, trapped her fourth-graders in a small supply closet. Teacher Abbey Clements and two third-grade classmates made it out alive. Laura Feinstein, a school reading specialist, and two pupils from outside her classroom also made it out alive.
