Born on May 24, 1899, Suzanne ranked world No. 1 between 1921 and 1926, with 8 Grand Slam titles won in singles and 21 wins in total.

Suzanne started playing tennis at age 11, with her father Charles as her coach all through her career. She was known as the youngest major champion in history at the time.

Suzanne had a balletic playing style and a brash personality. She made her Wimbledon debut in 1919 and won it as the second-longest final in history.

The 100 Greatest of All Time series had ranked her as one of the greatest women’s tennis players from the amateur era.

Suzanne consecutively came tops in six Wimbledon singles titles.

In the 1925 and 1926 open French Championships, Suzanne became champion in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

Suzanne passed away on July 4, 1938, at age 39, after suffering from pernicious anemia.

She was laid to rest at the Cimetière de Saint-Ouen, outside of Paris.
