Josh Donaldson suspension
After Saturday’s (May 21, 2002) game between White Sox and Yankees, we learned that the benches-clearing incident among Yasmani Grandal, Tim Anderson and Josh Donaldson went beyond your regular baseball dustup.
Tony La Russa said of the incident; “(Donaldson) made a racist comment, and that’s all I’m going to say.”
Donaldson did admit that he called White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson “Jackie” in reference to Jackie Robinson, referring to an interview with Sports Illustrated that Anderson did back in 2019 where he said that he feels “like today’s Jackie Robinson.”
Major League Baseball is reportedly investigating the incident and the possibility of a suspension has been bandied about.
