Holly Rene Holm-Kirkpatrick was born on October 17, 1981, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. She is the youngest of three children born to parents Roger Holm and Tammy Bredy. She was raised alongside siblings Weston Holm, and Brian Holm.

Holly Holm father, Roger, is a preacher while her mother Tammy worked as a massage therapist. Unfortunately, her parents are divorced. Holm belongs to Irish descent. Holly graduated from Manzano High School in 2000 before proceeding to study for a year at the University of New Mexico.

Holly Holm had an amateur kickboxing career which began with aerobics classes when she was 16 years old. Holly won the championship title in the International Rules Adult Women’s Welterweight Division in September 2001 at the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) USA National Amateur Championship Tournament.

Holly Holm made her mixed martial arts debut on March 4, 2011, against Christina Domke. She is a two-time Ring magazine fighter of the year (2005, 2006) and is ranked by BoxRec as the second best female professional boxer of all time. Holly is the first only fighter to hold a world-boxing title and a UFC title.

Holly Holm gave Ronda Rousey her first loss in the UFC sport. As December 13, 2021, she is ranked #2 in the UFC women’s bantamweight rankings and as of May 9, 2022 she is #8 in the UFC women’s pound for pound rankings.
