In a close race, the judges favoured Vieira. Vieira won by a score of 48-47, with one judge awarding Holm three rounds to two.
In Round 1, Vieira landed 40 of 45 total punches, while Holm landed 33 of 41. Saturday’s headliners were unafraid of each other’s abilities. Vieira was willing to compete on the feet with the three-division boxing champion, and Holm was at ease grappling with the Brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo expert.

In Round 2, Holm found a nice entry for a double leg takedown into a single leg dump. Vieira was able to counter the single leg and lock on a standing rear-naked choke, sending Holm into a frenzy.
As Holm initiated takedowns, Vieira consistently hit an uppercut down the middle. After four minutes of reasonable action, Holm landed another blow.
