J. M. Smucker Co. is recalling many of its Jif peanut butter products manufactured at a plant in Lexington, Kentucky, due to potential contamination, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The lot codes for the goods are 1274425 through 2140425.

The Food and Drug Administration, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other state and local health authorities, is investigating a Salmonella Senftenberg epidemic, according to an announcement released on May 21 2022.

According to the CDC, 14 people in 12 states have reported illnesses linked to the outbreak. Two people were hospitalised. All five people who contacted the CDC said they ate peanut butter, with four of them specifically saying they ate Jif.
According to the FDA, consumers should not consume and restaurants and businesses should not serve or sell any of the recalled Jif peanut butter products, which were distributed across the country.
