On Thursday, May 19 John Daly produced yet another wild ride in a PGA Championship.

Daly a two-time major champion, whose booming drives propelled him to win the PGA in 1991, drove the slopes and swales of Southern Hills in a golf cart the he’s allowed to use by the PGA because of osteoarthritis in his right knee.
Daly quickly birdied the first hole, then came another on No. 5.
Daly was on the leaderboard much of the round as he was greeted with cheers of “Go Big John” from a fan gallery that still loves his eccentric style, bushy beard and a grand belly that sends his belt buckles into hiding.

Daly followed with four bogeys in the final five holes, including three in a row on Nos. 16-18.
At the end, Daly’s 2-over 72 left him in no mood to talk and he didn’t grant post-round interviews.
Daly is known primarily for his driving distance off the tee, his non-country club appearance and attitude, his exceptionally long backswing, the inconsistency of his play, and his personal life.
